Nice V, Vol. 4: Live Microtonal

Greetings patrons of the great kglw.net. My name is Chase (or yoshigem if you only know me online) and I am bringing you the fourth entry into the Nice V monthly column, where contributors to the site highlight five tracks, performances, or anything else from the wider King Gizzard world in hopes of bringing delight to your lovely lives. This entry will be entirely dedicated to some of my favorite performances of King Gizzard’s microtonal music from the past few years.

Nice V, Vol. 3: Bullant

Of all of the amazing non-Gizzard projects, I think Bullant is the one that surprises me the most. The house/techno project of Joey, Bullant has given us two studio albums, eight non-album singles, and two short films done in collaboration with PHC Films so far. It’s a project that has always been grounded in reality with an unflattering look at the seedy side of Melbourne life. Drugs, violence, sex.

Nice V, Vol. 2: Top 5 "Deviant Arrangments" From August 2025

Hey everyone, it’s your friendly neighborhood setlist nerd @thefourthcolour here with the second installment of the King Gizzette’s monthly Nice V column. Once a month, one of the amazing volunteers from our site will put together five Gizz tracks/shows/whatever (perhaps tangentially related, perhaps not) and write about them. With that said, off we go. My five selections fall under a common theme of August 2025 live performances: songs in a non-“standard” or deviant arrangement from their basic studio form. If that doesn’t make sense, hopefully it will after reading!

Nice V, Vol.1 : Top 5 From PALP Festival (August 14, 2023 in Bagnes, Switzerland)
PALP '23 poster with lineup of artists

Hey everybody, Rowdy here. We’re trying a new monthly column (Nice V!) where a different site team member rounds up some notable, favorite, or just downright awesome tracks (or shows or albums, etc.) for your listening pleasure. We’ll share what we love about the music and unearth some hidden gems (which can all be found on our very own Gizztapes.)

This month, I’m building a top five from a specific show I come back to easily once a week; probably safe to call it my favorite show I haven't attended. I’m definitely revealing my psych rock lean here but King Gizzard's performance from PALP Festival 2023 is just so dense with great moments.
