(...aka: "PetroDragonic", "Petro", "PDA")
Dance beneath the moon's bright glow as charms they work to and fro
But alas, fire doth grown despite witches' ebb and flow
Fires rage with wild intent destroying all they present
The heat doth scorch the landeth
Naught but ash in thy handeth
The title and artwork for this album speak more for its topic and sound than any other; their most technical, heavy, and industrial release to date.
Compared with prior heavy releases, here the band leans into a high-fantasy storytelling style, resulting in a fully earthbound and particularly tangible Gizzverse narrative. Engines spewing black smoke, Pagan rituals, and catastrophic storms metaphorically and poetically combine into surely the most epic King Gizzard album.
What to listen to next:
• If you want to hear the opposing electronic counterpart to this album
• If you want another heavy metal concept album
• If you liked the heaviness and want to get even weirder
• If you want the same amount of energy and less heaviness is okay
• I didn’t like this, give me something completely different
