2022-03-07The Dripping Tap21:26King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Enmore Theatre Eora (Sydney) NSWAustraliaStill in its infancy, this "Tap" bears witness to an inspired Stu dueting on flute with Cecil Coleman (Body Type) for a little "flute jam." Some nice harmonic interplay and Am I In Heaven?-style vamping ensues before a bevy of proper teases and quotes in the customary energetic run up to the coda.
2022-04-26The Dripping Tap20:00King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Gundlach-Bundschu Winery Sonoma CAUSAA super punchy and energetic version. Having achieved its now-trademark blistering speed, they further push the boundaries of the budding jam vehicle and take an offramp to (a then-unknown) Hell's Itch jam. A vocally inspired "drip drip" section gives way to the hottest "Tap" peak yet. Cavs is on fire!
2022-05-06The Dripping Tap19:50King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Frontón México Mexico City CDMXMexicoThis supersized version has lots of quality guitar noodling to extend its length, snappy Cavs, a thrilling "drip drip" stop-start crescendo, and most notably, an Iron Lung jam section
2022-09-30The Dripping Tap14:32King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Moreno Beach Perris CAUSAA more melodious jam than the Best Kept Secret “Tap” accompanies Stu’s (now customary?) Lake Perris plunge. Amby rips some harmonica, improvises some lyrics, and then implores the crowd: “Can we have our singer back on the stage?” It would be a mistake to dismiss this fun, funny, and creative version as a mere retread!
2022-10-05The Dripping Tap17:24King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard PNE Forum Vancouver BCCanadaA bloodcurdling scream, a hypertensive first jam, a hellish itch, and a Pill to cure all ills; this show-closing jam vessel travels far and wide with its bodily imagery. The Gizzy Boys’ rhythm section lock a tight grip on “drip drip” while Stu, Amby, and Joey rip (especially during the coda jam, holy “Tap”)!
2022-10-24The Dripping Tap18:20King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Rabbit Rabbit Asheville NCUSAThough not its usual immaculate, tight self, the Asheville “Tap” finds the band stretching out into new territory and mapping out “The Land Before Timeland”.
2022-12-29The Dripping Tap16:02King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Wharepai Domain Tauranga Aotearoa (New Zealand)Lucas makes a rare assertive appearance in the second jam of this festival “Tap,” and Stu follows suit leading the band in a brief excursion into minor-key jamming that ultimately culminates in a neat “Hypertension” section, which spans both D minor and major as they work back to “drip drip.”
2023-06-17The Dripping Tap30:06King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Remlinger Farms Carnation WAUSAAn atypical and jammy intro sees Ambrose wander into the crowd, from where he eventually begins the song. Following the first chorus, a lengthy minor key jam emerges that grows increasingly tense and dark. Quotes and teases of Crumbling Castle and Cellophane build up to an intense peak. Returning back to the second jam section, the band weaves Head On/Pill into a jam reminiscent of the Dead-inspired progressions that popped up throughout the summer. The longest version to date, and worth every minute.
2024-08-15The Dripping Tap19:47King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Anthem, The Washington DCUSAA masterclass in teasing and a very classically gizz approach to The Dripping Tap. A blissful jam opens up after the second chorus, with Antarctica teases and quotes driving the jam towards a rewarding peak. One of the greatest ways to open a tour.
2024-08-20The Dripping Tap18:30King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Thompson's Point Portland MEUSAA long and wild jam highlights one of Stu’s now signature crowd-surfing river dips. Alternate Antarctica lyrics from Amby and a plethora of teases - notably 46 & 2 (Tool) for a large duration - soundtrack Stu’s departure and return. A closing Tap to end all closer Taps.
2024-09-11The Dripping Tap13:00King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Edgefield Amphitheater Troutdale ORUSAA blisteringly fast and wet The Dripping Tap. An intense rain storm rolled in shortly before the band took the stage, concerning Ambrose in particular as he voiced his fear for his life throughout the performance. Out of the second chorus a familiar, yet faster than usual, jam emerges. The band wastes little time re-entering the song proper with a frenetic and energetic finish. Following the song, the show was halted for 22 minutes due to torrential downpour.
