Words by Jamie and W.B.T.G. Slinger.
KGLW.net is very happy to publicly announce Gizz Tapes! This is a streaming platform exclusively for live recordings of King Gizzard hosted on the Internet Archive.
Currently there are over 200 shows available to listen to, ranging from the earliest known public King Gizzard performance in 2010 all the way through to the latest shows from the current tour, and so much in between for you to unearth. The interface has several features to elevate the experience from Archive.org, such as intuitive show date navigation, cross referenced KGLW.net setlist notes, and a favourites feature.
Since joining the team in July, Jamie has taken charge of this project and quickly brought it up to a sleek first release with his decade of full stack software and web development experience; as well as valuable input from established team member Cwar – the developer of Han-Tyumi – and direction from Max.
We've got a lot of plans in the pipeline for this website, but for now we're just very excited to get this into your hands. With this project still under active development, we'd love to hear from you all with any feedback you might have.
We have an issue tracker where you can directly report issues and leave suggestions, or if you'd prefer you can email us or check out this thread on the KGLW.net forum where we recently soft-launched the site.
The code behind this website is fully open source, and licensed under the AGPL. It's available on GitLab; we'd love to have you contribute, or maybe even fire up your own streaming services for your other favourite live bands.
