“9 TET” is a fully electronic microtonal instrumental written by Stu that shares some similarities with tracks like “Melting” and “Flying Microtonal Banana.” Its title refers to nine-tone equal temperament. Unlike the twelve tone temperament found in most Western music or the twenty four-tone temperament used by Gizzard in their microtonal music, nine-tone splits an entire octave into nine different intervals.
