Closing out Flying Microtonal Banana is the title track that leans heavily into the Turkish roots of the album. It’s a short instrumental focused on a zurna melody, which is followed by a simple ascending guitar riff before leaving the listener in blowing winds. This may have been the last piece created for the record. Stu mentioned in a ConcertAndCo interview that he and Joey had combined two separate ideas to create a new song during the album’s final recording session. He seems to be referring to the two distinct parts of this track. The song was played by Ambrose (harmonica), Cavs (bongos/percussion), Joey (guitar) and Stu (piano/synthesizer/percussion/zurna) and saw a release on February 24th, 2017.
The song would reappear subtly on K.G. as part of its intro “K.G.L.W.” According to Stu the song is played in reverse at the start of the track to create a link between the two albums.
“Flying Microtonal Banana” has never been played live.
