I was present at this show, and to see it as the highest-rated show on this site (as of 27th of September, 2024) is absolutely astonishing - my one regret is not picking up a poster while there, but I still have the complementary wristbands handed out by the Brighton Dome staff, as well as two LPs purchased there. Grace Cummings delivered a fantastic set, only two days after returning from illness. When the band came on stage, a huge grin grew on my face, as I eagerly awaited their first tune - I vividly remember the lightbulb switching in my head when I realised that they were strumming 'Iron Lung'. 'Mirage City' was announced as a debut, which had me very excited, as was 'Time = $$$' - it was only after the show that I learned that 'You Can Be Your Silhouette' had ALSO received its debut at the show. The performance of 'Silhouette' changed my view of the song, which I had previously seen as the worst from Sketches. They brought out classic acoustic tunes like 'Most Of What I Like', 'Let Me Mend The Past' and 'The Bitter Boogie', which I had expected, as well as performing 'Raw Feel' and 'Sad Pilot', neither of which I was familar with at the time. Sitting in the seats towards the top of the Dome, I had a fantastic view of the pit, who I remember being extremely rowdy during 'Hot Water' and 'Trapdoor'. 'Sense' and 'Slow Jam 1', both ten-minute-plus jams, came and went like a breeze - I hardly remember either of them, but I do remember them launching into 'This Thing', which I had originally recognised as 'The Bird Song' from the riff played just before-hand. Finally, as the night came to a close, they did something I never thought they would do, especially ironic for me as I had been joking all week about them playing a metal song at the acoustic show - they played 'Witchcraft'. My world turned upside-down, my grin returning once more (who am I kidding, it never left) and I was completely gobsmacked. 'Witchcraft' is now my favourite song from PDA, and potentially one of my favourite songs of theirs overall. This show was truly life-changing and I feel blessed to have been present.
